A registered homeopath (MARH, MRHom) in practice for 10 years, I graduated from the London College of Homeopathy (LCH) after 4 years professional training. I then spent a year working with and treating the homeless in various London shelters, and took the Orion Advanced Course in homeopathy. Since then, I've been practicing from my home in North-West London, interspersed with several periods working at Nelsons and Ainsworths homeopathic pharmacies in London's West End. I am a leading exponent of a new wave of innovative research into understanding the therapeutic process in homeopathy and other complementary and alternative medical (CAM) therapies
Apart from homeopathy, I have also been a research chemist for over 30 years, holding several science degrees, including a doctorate in chemistry. I am a Chartered Chemist, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. My chemistry research over the past 12 years has concentrated on the use of light and biologically-targeted pigments as a novel treatment for cancer. In 2001, this culminated in the formation of a university spin-out company to propagate and commercialise this research. I am also a science journalist, writing about chemistry and CAM for many leading newspapers, journals and magazines.
Married with three grown-up children, my interest in homeopathy began when I moved to London in the late 1970's, and first met my NHS GP, who was also a homeopath. I soon realised that some remedies I was prescribed contained virtually no molecules of the materials out of which they were made. As a scientist deeply imbued with modern ideas of atomic and molecular structure, I felt outraged at what seemed like basic physical laws being flouted. After all, how could nothing - a remedy in which the molecules of the original substance had been diluted out of existence - apparently do something; that is cure somebody?
As I saw illnesses being cured however, outrage gave way to bewilderment. I decided to train as a homeopath to see if I could find out how it 'worked'. So began an incredible journey of discovery, some of which is contained in this web-site.
